I first used Circus Ponies’ Notebook a couple of years ago. I even bought a license. But somehow I couldn’t get my head around the app. It seemed temperamental, and I got tired of playing with it.
Undoubtedly the app has improved, and I’ve tried using it again. This time around I’m finding it considerably more useful.
I’ve been using it to update colleagues on a current project. Instead of sending them email updates, I enter everything into a Notebook file, and send them a PDF of the file at the end of the week. Suddenly we’re all on the same page, so to speak.
This saves me emailing everyone five or six MS Word docs, a collection of graphics, a spreadsheet and an in-progress presentation. Everything’s in the one file, I print it to PDF and distribute it – and hey presto, my life is suddenly a lot easier.
When I first used Notebook, the mistake I made was trying to cram everything into one file. For me, using the app just as I’d use real notebooks, makes much more sense.
