There’s lots of buzz about the new MacBooks concerning a glaring omission: no Firewire ports.
If you use Firewire, as anyone who owns more than one Mac invariably does, this is disturbing news.
Mac OS X and iPod Troubleshooting, Support, and Help – MacFixIt reports:
“The elimination of FireWire also spells trouble for iMovie users, who will no longer be able to directly connect cameras that use the protocol. The new MacBooks still ship with iMovie, but Apple apparently expects users to work with a USB-capable camera or import data to another system first.”
I use Firewire, and I have no idea how I’d cope without it. I hope Apple replaces the Firewire ports as as soon as possible.
